Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table
Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
